It’s no secret that job titles have changed this past decade. 10 years ago, we had never heard of smartphones, and social media was just starting to emerge. And since smartphones have only been around since 2007, it’s not surprising to learn that jobs like Android or iPhone developers barely existed a few years ago.
Surprisingly popular job titles
But there are other job titles that gain popularity during the second part of the 2000’s. Aside from social media and technology, fitness also became more and more popular. Starting from 2007, fitness centers were popping up all over the U.S. like bad weeds in an abandoned vegetable garden.
One job title, in particular, was winning the popularity contest, and that’s Zumba instructor. Even though it was invented in the early 2000’s, it really took off in 2007 at the same time as fitness centers. In 5 years, this dance fitness job title had a 396x growth, passing from 16 instructors in 2008 to 6 331 in 2013.
Another very surprising popular job title is Beachbody coach. Although, Beachbody LLC was launched in 1998, there were still no Beachbody coaches 10 years later. But in 2013, 3 360 coaches were registered, selling fitness products and supporting people wanting to lose weight, gain muscle or get healthy.
But how did they do it?
The LinkedIn team simply counted the number of frequencies for target English keywords and keyphrases used in job titles that were held in 2013 and compared the results to job titles that were held in 2008.
After that, they took the top titles that saw the largest increase in recurrence in that 5-year period and ranked them by their related volume in 2013.
The infographic
