And I’m not just talking about transcription jobs either.
3 Ways To Make Money From Home In The Medical Field
There are three ways to make money from home in the medical field. You can work from home as a nurse, as a billing and coding clerk, or yep – you guessed it, as a transcriptionist.
Nurses
You might be wondering what can a nurse do from home. How can he or she help a patient without physically being there? I know, I had the same questions. The answer to that is simple – technology.
Technology has opened up the opportunity for nurses to take their hands-on skills and experience and work from the comfort of their own homes. As you’re about to find out, medical transcriptionist are not the only ones in demand with medical experience and now nurses are trading in the long hours and scrubs for jeans and a t-shirt and sitting on their couch helping patients.
The first image I get of a nurse is someone taking a temperature reading or monitoring blood pressure, a more hands on type of responsibilities we would naturally associate nurses with. So what types of jobs can a nurse do from home?
There are three types of nurses that can help a patient without physically being in a doctor’s office or hospital, that’s a triage nurse, home-care nurse and case manager.
Here’s a little about what they do.
As a Triage Nurse, nurses will receive inbound calls for non-emergency situations. After a series of questions and assessments, the nurse will determine whether medical attention is needed and make a recommendation to the patient.
A Home-Care Nurse provides assistance to patients who prefer to receive medical care at home such as dialysis. They also administer medication and make necessary assessments for continued patient care.
A Case-Manager will be have a patient list and will be responsible for knowing their medical history, medication, diagnosis and prognosis, as well as tend to non-life threatening situations.
