From Passion To Profit: Explore The Great Potential Of Online Tutoring Jobs

This post was updated with more online tutoring jobs.

When I was a little girl, I used to play ‘school’ with my sister. We’d pretend to have a class and give out homework and tests – we had it down to the nines, baby! Our pretend school ruled! LOL.

Then I started playing ‘school’ for real when my career path lead me to work as a teacher’s assistant in 1997. I assisted in Kindergarten and 3rd grade classes. I didn’t get to play teacher but I was able to sub a couple of classes for a couple hours when the teacher needed to step away from the classroom.

It was nothing like my classroom at home, lol – it was better!

To date, that was the best job I had – well, all except for this blogging journey I’m on now. The pay sucked but teaching a child and seeing him or her learn something new – that was the trade off.

Not to mention, I got to work with some great teachers. I found out teachers were not paid during the summer months. So the make ends meet, some of them would tutor students to make extra money until the new school year began. And some of them tutored all year around.

My teacher’s assistant job didn’t last long. I started working for AT&T in the summer of 1998 (for better pay and benefits) and the rest is history.

When I started researching how to make money from home most of the jobs were for customer service reps, sales reps, or medical billing and coding.

Back then there were no online tutoring jobs. Teachers either had to drive to the student’s house or stay after school.

But thanks to technology, work-from-home jobs have definitely changed over the years.

Teachers are now using the internet as a way to make extra money with the skills and experience they already have.

Instead of staying after school or traveling to tutor a student, now they can make money from home as an online tutor.

Online tutoring jobs aren’t just for teachers. Some companies also work with retired teachers, stay-at-home moms (and dads) even college students can make some extra money tutoring students online.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, keep on reading because I’m about to tell you all you need to know about online tutoring jobs and where you can find them!

What It Takes

So what does it take to be an online tutor?
