Crafty Ideas for Your Home Office
Your home office should be a relaxing yet productive space. Ultimately, it also needs to reflect your personality and be a place that you can call your own. It is important that the home office is clutter free and is an environment in which you can happily sit and work.
Below we share with you some fun crafty ideas for your home office that will help to inject your personality into the space and help it to run more smoothly.
Cereal Box Drawer Dividers:
How often do you rummage about in your office drawer for a specific piece of paper or marker pen? To make life easier when trying to find those all important items in your office drawer, use cereal boxes. Simply trim the box to size and cover in your favourite wrapping paper.
Paint a Wall as a Chalkboard:
A chalkboard is invaluable in the home office. Memos, doodles, important dates and brainstorming ideas can all be popped onto the board. You can buy chalkboard paint from most DIY stores and all you need then is the chalk.
Jam Jars:
You can either buy jam jars or simply recycle your own. All you need to do is to glue them together and to then stand them on their side at the back of your home office desk. They can then be left as they are or decorated with glass paint. These jars are perfect for storing pens, pencils, paper clips and other mall stationary items. There are plenty of cheap stationery items we have a wide selection for you to choose from, that will be perfect for personalising your home office.
Shoebox Storage:
Shoeboxes are fabulous for storing important papers and files. Glue several boxes together side by side, so that they can stand up vertically on your desk. Cover them in your favourite wrapping paper or fabric to blend in with your overall office design and colour scheme.
Wine Rack:
If you have a wine rack that you no longer use, then you can use it in your home office to store a variety of stationary such as paper clips, pencils, pens, rulers etc. Simply add plastic cups into the spaces designated for the wine bottles and ensure that they are firmly glued into place. You could paint the wine rack to blend in with your office décor.
Muffin Tin:
This can be slid into a drawer and used to store those smaller items that can get easily lost in a box or while sat on your desk. Most muffin tins will easily fit into your desk drawer and, if you prefer, you can spray paint them with metallic paint to make them more of a feature.
Kitchen Wire Racks:
These are incredibly cheap to buy from any kitchenware shop and work so well in the home office environment. Simply hook onto the wall to store books, papers and important documents.

Cork board:
Cork material is made from the bark of cork oak. It can be made into big boards which could easily be mounted within the home office. Cork is a great material to use as a note board as its firm yet soft texture makes it easy for pins to be pushed into its surface. Furthermore, it’s a beautiful material and can be easily customised with different dies and paints, making it an aesthetic piece for the home office.
Floating garden:
Foliage is essential for any office space. Not only does is add colour and life to the room but the extra oxygen will keep you working more effectively. A creative way to feature plants is to buy spherical glass fish bowls, place the plant in them and use either strong string or wire to hang them from the ceiling to create a floating garden.
Shutter letter/document holder:
Wooden window shutters are attractive pieces. Well these beautiful wooden designs do not only have to serve as window shutters. Due to their iconic design with ridged slats, they could be used to hold letters and documents. Simply buy an old window shutter give it a touch up with a slap of paste or leave it as it is if you like that vintage style and mount it to a wall in your office.
