9 Home-based Businesses Perfect For Moms

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with moms who are looking for home-based businesses that will fit into their already busy schedule. Because the idea of a regular 9-5 or work-from-home job just won’t fit into their already busy schedule with school and other activities involving the kids.

For many years women have had to make a choice either stay at home and raise a family or a career. And women have had enough of that bull.

Now moms are taking matters into their own hands. They’re hanging up the apron so to speak and starting a home-based business. And I say more power to ’em! What’s even better is, it’s been a success – so much so that more moms and dads have quit their day job in exchange for becoming their own boss.

In fact, Incfile shared some very interesting stats about home-based businesses. Like,  are managed from home and I think it’s safe to say that number is steady growing. How awesome and exciting is that!

Starting a home-based business is an exciting venture but before you get started you have to plan carefully and choose a business that fits into your schedule or the mom shift as I like to call it.

Part of the planning process includes asking questions like:

  • How much time will I need to invest in running my business
  • Will I be able to set my own hours
  • Can I work on a project by project basis

Home-based Businesses That Are Perfect For Moms

The goal is to start a business that fits into your lifestyle and schedule. For example, running a consultation business may require you to be on the phone talking with clients. That can be hard to do with little ones running around. You know what I mean?

So mamas, have you dreamed about becoming your own boss? Here are some home-based businesses that are a perfect fit for you and your busy schedule.

Direct Sales Business

Direct sales is one of the most common types of home-based businesses. And there are so many options to choose from like cosmetics, candles, accessories, clothes, health products, green products…you name it.

You don’t even have to worry about small details like packaging anymore either. While not too far in the past you’d have to create product labelling yourself, you can now have packaging and labels manufactured for you. For example, if you were selling water bottles, you can use private label bottled water manufacturers to take more of the stress off. They can easily customise them to your branding, and you can concentrate on other important things.

And the best part about it is it gives moms the freedom to choose their own hours and days to work while still taking care of the family and run the house.

Ecommerce Website

With most of us shopping online now, selling products would make a great home-based business. When you set up an eCommerce website you have to consider things like the products you want to sell, niches, market and how to be different from competitors.
