The number of people working from home continues to rise each year. In fact, the Global Workplace Analytics and FlexJobs* conducted the American Community Survey about the state of remote work. The stats were shared by FlexJobs in their article 159% Increase in Remote Work Since 2005: FlexJobs & Global Workplace Analytics Report.
Here are some stats from the article:
- Since 2005 remote work has increased by 159%
- Between 2016 and 2017 remote work increased by 7.9%
- Over the last five years, remote work growth is at 44%
- For the last 10 years remote work has grown 91%
- 3.4% of the total U.S. workforce are remote workers, this is up from 2.9% in 2015
- 4.7 million people in the U.S. currently telecommute, up from 3.9 million in 2015.
But not everyone wants a traditional work from home job. I’ve always said a telecommuting job isn’t for everyone but there’s still a way to make money from home.
